CISO Edge Mexico – Can you briefly describe your current role as Information Security Officer? What are your main priorities in this field? Which prospective projects are you conducting?

AC- In AXA my main responsibility is the review of all the security points in the application and the review of the source code, in the last year we have integrated the security architecture area, and with this impulse, I was able to take the main responsibility of the project called security by design for all AXA Mexico, this initiative is new for the entity and will be finished in the third quarter of 2023.

CISO Edge Mexico – How do you describe an adequate cybersecurity strategy for the company? What is essential when talking about a successful IT Security strategy?

AC- -In order to create a security strategy in a company, it is necessary to have a 360º vision and to generate a line of learning on the same strategy.

A correct interpretation must be made for the IT team and senior management on the way forward and the points to be addressed in case there are security issues along with a capacity for adaptability to change.

CISO Edge Mexico – In your opinion, which main cybersecurity trends and CISO challenges can you name for this year and what will be important in the next 3 -5 years?

AC-The current security trend is to focus on the human factor in training due to the absence of professionals and users today have access to resources more easily to commit a crime or fraud.

in 5 or more years I see that the new technologies of storage, development, and artificial intelligence will change the technology and with it the security as we know it today, this should call our attention to change the ways and processes of doing and understanding security.

CISO Edge Mexico – What is the IT Security strategy in your company? Which priorities do you set for the next 3-5 years?

AC- Migration to new technologies and prioritizing security in all aspects of the company’s operations.

CISO Edge Mexico – How are you collaborating and influencing the organization and senior management to ensure their support in the IT Security area?

AC- AXA has a foundation that is in charge of social work and aligns itself with new trends by supporting employees and society.

CISO Edge Mexico – As a team leader do you face skill gaps in IT? What can you advise other CISOs to overcome it?

AC-Nowadays there is a shortage of specialized professionals, it is important to define directions and expand knowledge and reinforce them in the teams, control, order, and immediate attention are the key.

CIO Edge Mexico – What can you advise other CISOs to pay attention to ensure success when drawing their own IT Security strategy?

AC- Know the team and its capabilities, find the areas of opportunity, and define a strategy and contingency plan for the worst-case scenario.
